Schoolies Dates
When is Schoolies?
Schoolies dates begins at the end of year-12, traditionally between the last two weeks of November and the first two weeks of December.
Students from each State and Territory finishes school at different times, so Schoolies Week in some destinations lasts up to three weeks to cater for the different end of school dates. Check with your school to know the graduation date to know which week you can celebrate Schoolies. (And don’t forget to factor in your post school celebrations, such as Formals and Graduation Ceremonies when booking your Schoolies trip.)
Queensland students traditionally celebrate Schoolies in “Week One” (if multiple travel weeks are on offer in the destination), this is because Queensland students finish school at a younger age than their New South Wales and Victorian friends and therefore the schoolies activities and events are designed to these students who are not yet 18 years of age.
New South Wales and Victorian students have usually finished school in time to attend any week of Schoolies however it is encouraged that they attend “Week 2” of Schoolies on the Gold Coast and Byron Bay to experience the full 18+ festivities at bars and nightclubs.
South Australian students traditionally celebrate Schoolies at Victor Harbor and the schoolies festival runs over 3 nights.
Western Australia students head to Dunsborough and Busselton for a 5-nights over Leavers Week.
